Mr Sam Jain is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee replacement surgery.

His practice is based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital where he treats a variety of hip and knee conditions. He has a keen interest in enhanced recovery and has recently introduced a successful day case pathway for patients having hip and knee replacement surgery in Leeds. He also has significant experience in treating patients with problematic hip replacements and offers the full range of reconstructive options for revision hip replacement surgery.

He graduated from medical school at University of Leeds in 2005 and then trained in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery throughout Yorkshire. He completed his subspecialty training in 2017 and then undertook fellowship training in Leeds, Northumbria and at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital. In addition to his clinical practice, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Leeds and a surgical trainer. He is also an active member of the British Hip Society and was a founding member of its award-winning Culture & Diversity committee.

Academic interests

Mr Jain has contributed significantly to the field of research in orthopaedic surgery.

He has an accomplished research portfolio and has authored over 40 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters in orthopaedic textbooks.

He has a particular academic interest in the prevention and management of complications of joint replacement surgery and has recently submitted his PhD thesis on periprosthetic fractures following hip replacement surgery.

He has presented prize-winning research both at national and international scientific conferences and regularly chairs academic sessions at annual scientific meetings. He works as part of a thriving academic unit in Leeds and offers supervision and guidance to trainees building their own research portfolio.
